Karena Loeffen was born in the small city of Welland, Ontario, Canada. Music was always a part of her family life. Her mother Annette was the organist and choir director of a church in Welland . At the age of four Karena began showing interest in the piano and at the age of five she
began lessons. She began taking vocal lessons as well. Singing was a family affair. Family road trips meant a car filled with 4-part harmony, five kids and two adults. Karena continues to perform as an adult soloist in her local choir.
Even as a child Karena had her own notions of how music should be played. But she continued to study the great Masters: Mozart, Chopin and Bach. At the age of twelve her natural gift couldn't be suppressed and she began composing songs of her own.
She completed piano and theory, grade 9, and was ready for grade 10 piano when high school (and being a teenager) got in the way. Although her formal piano studies discontinued, she learned the flute and played in the school band for four years. Karena went on to graduate from college, earning her diploma as a Registered Nurse. She focused her energies on her chosen career, and took assignments within the USA and Canada. All the while she continued with her real passion in life - composing music on the piano.
After dedicating fifteen years of her life to nursing, her passion for composing music has now become a full-time endeavor. She has self-produced a CD of her musical compositions: FROM MY SOUL. Karena continues to perform in concerts.
