Combine the sound of the Canadian Brass, the finesse of the Guarneri String Quartet and the same number of players as the Beatles and what do you have? Nothing But Valves, the first American brass quartet to actively promote this unique and entertaining repertoire in over one hundred years. Brass quartets were quite popular in the nineteenth century, but the advent of the modern brass quintet drove them from the spotlight. Today, they continue to be popular in Europe, with annual competitions held to showcase new works and ensembles.
