| Yuletide Rose is whimsy and humour, heart and home, joyful exuberance and a giving of thanks. There's a bit of Mendelssohn and PDQ Bach,
a taste of Gershwin, and an echo of the Boston Pops. There are new classical arrangements coupled with poignant improvisation, delicate string passages,
stirring percussion, and expressive solo piano interpretations. For a new take on classic instrumental holiday music, play the Yuletide Rose. |

The Far View was recorded in the solar powered Lyftwyn Studio in the La Garita Mountains. They are the northwest side of Colorado's San Luis Valley, shouldering the Continental Divide near the headwaters of the Rio Grande. It was played on a Baldwin Imperial style grand piano built in 1898, lovingly restored by my friend Perry.
Affectionately known as "Bull" because of the heavy archaic action, the piano lived for years in the middle of nowhere, listened to by Deer, Hummingbirds, Bluebirds and Coyotes. All the pieces are derived from scenes of the San Luis Valley. The people, the animals, the sky and the wind, the rainbows and the storms — there is no place in the whole wide world like the San Luis Valley. I love to resonate with geography, and find that music can fill the mind when no words can describe the beauty. I hope you can hear it, and share in the world's beauty with me. Thanks to: My wife Carrie for a lifetime of love and patience. Perry and Mary for hard work, good ideas, and lovely support, and Bambi for the timely blast of enthusiasm mixed with aesthetic sense.
